One of the historic Italian luxury brands launches a collaboration to fit out some of its stores. This marks the beginning of a partnership that continues to the present day.

TOD’S Omotesando Building – Tokyo
Designed by Toyo Ito, the store is spread over several levels within an innovative reinforced concrete structural casing. The building is featured in leading architectural magazines around the world. MODAR is asked to fit out the sales areas and the showroom.

Tod’s entrusts MODAR with the realisation of its new retail outlets

Coin appoints MODAR to furnish all its major Italian department stores (more than 20), including Milan, Mestre and Rome.

Max Mara chooses MODAR to fit out its stores globally. More than 40 installations will be created in the United States alone.

MODAR fits out the Furla store on Madison Avenue, New York.

The collaboration with Prada begins
MODAR creates two Prada stores in Milan, which are followed by further outlets.

MODAR advances into the luxury market
MODAR completes turnkey fit out of the first Cacharel store in Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Milan.
This is followed by a long collaboration that will see MODAR working with internationally renowned architects. -
The partnership phenomenon takes off
Collaborations are launched with important clothing brands, such as Levi’s and Lacoste. The first Furla franchise store is born, the precursor of a network of 60 stores fitted out exclusively by MODAR.
To manage a constantly expanding order book, MODAR acquires headquarters in Paderno Dugnano and moves the business there. -

Convinced of the need to consolidate the structure of the company and invest in growth, Dante Malagola buys out the other partners and plans a development programme.

First franchise stores
Fit out of Croff shops. After fitting out several direct outlets, MODAR enters the world of partnership programmes.

Fit outs in Europe and the USSR
The fitting out of American Express Travel Services begins.
The programme will lead to the establishment of 30 outlets in Europe and the Soviet Union. -
Ipermercato Eurostanda
MODAR creates all the fittings in wood for the Eurostanda hypermarket in Paderno Dugnano, covering an area of about 11,000 m2, which will become the current Carrefour shopping centre.

MODAR furnishes department stores
Standa entrusts MODAR with the realisation of all wooden furnishings for leading department stores in the main Italian cities and, subsequently, for the first hypermarkets that will pave the way for the future development of shopping centres.

MODAR is founded
On 7th October 1971, Dante Malagola founds MODAR together with four partners. The company takes over a small existing carpentry workshop, the initial capital is modest, but there is no shortage of enthusiasm and dedication.
